GMod has been around for a long time. Its changed a lot since its release in 2005 and since then thousands of addons have been released for it by the people who play it, but who honestly thought GMod would teach people things?
Just recently GMod was featured on BBC One in the UK, explaining how teenagers have used it to extend their community by building a community centre on an empty plot of land in their estate. They also planted trees to improve the aesthetics of the area and built a fishing pond. It may seem a bit silly, but this could really mean something. While thugs are out on the streets beating up defenceless old ladies and stealing vodka from Asda, these teenagers are using their time constructively to improve their community.

Other people have used GMod to create educational videos like this one.
This is a video someone made for his class about Sexually-Transmitted Diseases. Although being very informal and humorous, it does get the point across pretty well. People across the world can now watch this video and be educated by it.
I, Myself also created a video in GMod for my science class.
My video explains about how diabetes works. Very simple and crap building in Garry's Mod, but I'm pretty sure it's pretty easy to understand what I'm trying to tell the viewer, thanks to GMod.
The teacher liked it along with the majority of the students however they did ask why I had a gun out.
So there you have it. GMod really can be educational if you use it properly.
