A Steam client update is now available. To apply the update, click the File menu inside of Steam and then select "Check for Steam Client Updates...". The specific changes include:

Fixed Left 4 Dead 2 gifts not showing up in recipients games list until after redemption via email even if sent directly to the account
Fixed steam client displaying "scanning for updates…" while decrypting newly unlocked content
Prevent client from displaying or allowing a user to select an unavailable language for a game
Improve game installation progress displayFixed games sometimes spuriously launching after they get updated
